Teeth Whitening

Most dentists choose to utilize professionally dispensed take-home whitening kits because they produce the best results long term. Impressions are made to form a plastic tray that has been fabricated and adjusted so it fits comfortably over the patient's teeth. Take-home kits incorporate an easy-to-use peroxide gel that remains on the teeth for a specified period of time. The lower the peroxide percentage, the longer it may safely remain on the teeth. The advantage of take-home kits is that whitening can continue to be done if staining reoccurs.  An exam must be done before whitening begins to assure that the patient is a candidate for the procedure. Whitening is successful on natural teeth only.
