First Trip to the Dentist!
The recommendation of the American Dental Association is that a child be seen by a dentist no later than his first birthday. Besides checking for dental decay and other problems, the dentist can teach a child how to properly care for his teeth. Starting early with dental visits helps create a positive experience for the child, and it teaches him from a young age the importance of good oral care.

Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are a plastic resin material that is bonded into the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. These areas are the most difficult to clean with a toothbrush, leaving the teeth susceptible to plaque. Sealants create a barrier between plaque and the tooth, making decay less likely to form. Sealants usually last several years.

Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments are important because they assist in the process of restoring minerals to teeth. Minerals are depleted by means of acids that come from the foods and beverages we consume. When minerals are depleted, the enamel wears away, leading to tooth decay. Fluoride helps replace minerals faster than they are taken away, making the teeth more resistant to decay. Both children and adults benefit from the use of fluoride.
